·         Razor blade
·         Glass cleaner
·         Microfiber cloth
·         Glass repair kit
·         Soft cloth

A typical glass repair kit can be obtained for less than $5 from any retail store. It usually includes resin, film and stabilizers. While buying glass repair kits, check whether it is specifically for mirrors. Other glass repair kits may contain other components like bridges and might not have film or the like. Here are the steps to repair a mirror using the glass kit and all the items mentioned above.

Step 1
Clean the crack and the area surrounding it with a soft cloth. Make sure that there is no dirt of any kind anywhere near the cracked area. The soft cloth should be lint free; else the lint will be cause for new dirt on it.

Step 2
From the glass repair kit, take the stabilizer and apply it over the crack by peeling off the adhesive back cover. This will cover the damage and will allow you to repair the crack. Press out any air bubbles trapped under the stabilizer with your fingers so that it smooths out against the surface of the mirror.

Step 3
Take the syringe from the kit and fill it with resin. Insert the syringe in the crack through the stabilizer and only through it. Inject the resin into the crack using the syringe till the crack is fill. Let the resin dry as long as it is specified in the manufacturer’s instructions of your repair kit. Usually, the drying time ranges from 24-48 hours.

Step 4
Apply a tiny amount of the resin on top the cured, filled crack. Cover this immediately with the curing film from the repair kit. It is common to see bubbles, haze, streaks and other visual defects as the film cures. This is completely normal and will disappear as the film dries out.

Step 5
Peel the film off after the top layer of the resin has cured. Smooth the repair with a razor blade and clean the glass using glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Contact Us for more details about glass and mirror repair Miami.
